Young Dubliners

We went to a Young Dubliners concert with Bryan and Ricci last week. What better way to get ready for St Patrick's Day, right? Bryan won tickets on the radio and then invited us to join them, since Matt introduced him to the group. They are an Irish rock band, need I say more?

We got dinner first and then headed up to The Depot for the concert. Now when they say doors open at 7:00, they mean doors open at 7:00. We got there about 7:15 and all the good seating was gone. Since The Depot doubles as a bar, the concert was a 21 and older crowd. And unlike the Andy Grammer concert, I remembered ID this time! I checked at least a dozen times before we left! The concert was fun but we should have known, with it being an Irish rock band, that people would not just be drinking. They would be getting smashed. A couple run-ins with splashing beer, knocked into by swaying drunks, and two plastered guys making out, and we left the floor very quickly. We sat up on the balcony, and enjoyed the concert much better after that!

The CD we have is their Irish album where they took a bunch of Irish folk songs and added drums and a bass and pumped up the tempo. Love the album! Anyway, there is one particular song on there that Matt has sung to Kalianna since she was a baby. She fondly refers to it as "The Daddy Song". When they started performing that one towards the end of the concert, I got very excited! Matt was able to catch some of it for me:

All-in-all we had a good time, but probably wouldn't go to one of their concerts again.
